Large Animal Imaging Facility

PD Dr. sc ETH Christian Stoeck

The Center for Preclinical Development operates clinical imaging infrastructure adjacent to the operating theaters. This proximity allows for a smooth workflow for pre-, intra- and post-operative image acquisition. Imaging procedures are developed and implemented on an individual project bases and the imaging facility offers the full range of radiological examination. Our services  range from clinical and experimental in-vivo imaging to non-destructive imaging of biological and non-biological samples as well historic artifacts.  Please direct your inquiry towards PD Dr. Christian Stoeck

MRI

MR examinations are performed on a 1.5T Philips AmbitionX clinical system equipped with receiving coils for imaging of all body parts. Additionally, ultra sound based cardiac triggering is available for non-invasive cardiac gating in fetal imaging. For contrat injection a power injector (Bayer Medrad MRExperion) is available. The field strength of the system facilitates imaging in the presence of implanted devices. Implementation of research imaging sequences is available as service.

CT

CT imaging is performed on a Philips CT7500 equipped with a state of the art dual layer spectral detector. The conjoined acquisition of low and high energy photons allows for spectral image reconstruction in one shot. Based on the spectral information virtual low energy images as well as nuclei differentiation can be performed. For contrat injection a power injector (Bayer Medrad Stellant) is available.

X-Ray

Besides interventional fluoroscopy the center operates a mobile X-ray C-arm for conventional intra operative X-Ray imaging.

Anesthesia

Imaging is performed under general anesthesia. To this end we operate clinical anesthesia machines (Dräger) and ventilators (Philips). For MR imaging we operate a dedicated MR conditional anesthesia machine (Dräger) located inside the magnet room.
