Services
Scientific Projects
With our academic and industry partners we support scientific projects as collaborators including joint funding applications (such as, SNFS, ERC, Innosuisse) up to conducting full studies as service. For in-vivo application the center for preclinical development provides the following model organisms: mouse, rat, rabbit, pig, sheep. Our services includes the application for ethical licenses. We also support researchers with in-situ experiments that require specific clinical infrastructure such as fluoroscopy guidance or imaging with conducting their studies. With our long standing experience in intervention, surgery, clinical care, anesthesia as well as biomedical engineering we sit together and help evaluating the best approach and refine studies designs to ensure the successful conclusion of your project.
Product Development and GLP
We help Spin-offs and Start-ups on their journey from early product development to go to market preparations. Our expertise has a direct impact on the device design and we work closely together with founders to consult with design refinement for swift progress. Our services includes early exploratory studies as well as safety and efficacy evaluation after design freeze. In preparation for the process of FDA, SwissMedic or EMA approval studies are conducted under the principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
Research as a Service (RaaS)
Our services include contract research. Together with the sponsors we refine the study design and provide the modular service including obtaining ethical approval, conduction of the study, data analysis and reporting. Depending on the agreement individual study tasks are performed by us.
Training
We have a long-standing tradition in collaborating with major healthcare companies and Hospitals enabling device and scenario trainings for medical personnel in a clinical environment without interfering with clinical routine. To this end we provide a framework for simulator trainings e.g. for training in emergency procedures as well as support in-vivo trainings of clinical products.
Experimental Imaging
Relying on our expertise in biomedical engineering and medical imaging we tailor the imaging protocols to the individual project needs as well as species used. To this end we also offer experimental imaging protocols and imaging sequences that are not readily available as product on the market but programmed in house for the specific experiments. We have a long-standing cooperation with imaging device manufacturers that allows us to go beyond clinical practice and provide advanced imaging.
Nondestructive Sample Imaging
Ourpre-clinical andclinical imaging equipment allows for a large variety of ex-vivo and in-silico applications from organ phantom evaluation and simulation to non-destructive evaluation of samples beyond preclinical application. Be it for anatomical reference or evaluation of historic artifacts, we provide ex-vivo and in-silico X-Ray imaging, Computed Tomography imaging as well Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Depending on the sample or device the decision on which infrastructure is best suited and used for analysis is made together with you.
Equipment rental
Part of our infrastructure is available for independent use by researchers. Use of infrastructure generally requires an instruction to the facility and equipment provided by the center for preclinical development. The user lab infrastructure includes scan time on preclinical MRI scanner, the microsurgical theaters, transfer lab and the histology user lab.
